RIVERSIDE — founded in the early 1880s, Riverside is southern California’s sixth largest city with a population over 300,430. It is home to the University of California, Riverside as well as two private universities-La Sierra University and California Baptist University-and hosts the main campus of Riverside Community College. The bulk of employment growth is in the manufacturing and technology sectors and the workforce is about 162,100.

MORENO VALLEY — incorporated in 1984, Moreno Valley has a population of 186,301 and is 51.5 square miles. In 2006, Moreno Valley was the nation’s sixth fastest growing city with a population made up of primarily young families and a workforce of 87,200. The city’s largest employers include several vehicle and modular building manufacturers as well as the regional distribution centers for Fresh & Easy, Walgreen’s, and Lowe’s.

PERRIS — has a population of 54,323 and is 31.7 square miles. Perris is home to the Lake Perris State Recreation Area and Lake Perris, the terminal reservoir in the State Water Project system. The city is home to manufacturing and public sector employers including Eastern Municipal Water District as well as large school district employers.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS

BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE (BNSF) RAILROAD — retains exclusive freight rights on the rail line and RCTC will work closely with BNSF on the track design of the Project to ensure compatibility with continued freight operations for current customers.

MARCH JOINT POWERS AGENCY (JPA) — The March Air Reserve Base is targeted for major aviation related commercial development using surplus properties that became available when the facility was realigned from an Air Force base to a Reserve base in 1993. The 350-acre March Inland Port is currently being developed for air cargo industry and is a Foreign Trade Zone. A master plan for land use is in place as well as all development entitlements for the 1,250 acre March Business Center. The project will generate 12,000 to 15,000 new jobs over 20 years in 16 million square feet of new development. The JPA has plans to donate land for a rail station to serve this Project.

LENNAR CORPORATION AND LNR PROPERTY CORPORATION — are the parent entities for the March Business Center development. The consortium is the manager or developer of more than 1,000 major properties worldwide.

THE VALLEY GROUP — a self-subscribed group of community and business leaders, the Valley Group helps shape the future of the Perris Valley by being advocates for development projects and infrastructure improvements at the state and federal levels.

REGIONAL PARTNERS

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL RAIL AUTHORITY — is the presumed operator for passenger service on the Perris Valley Line and will provide scheduling that will facilitate commuter connections to job centers served by the Metrolink System.
